'Beauty in the Mundane'
Mixed media works by Teresa Schippel Hales at Hampstead Garden Gallery 1st - 21st November 2021
About
An exhibition of prints and mixed media works by Teresa Schippel Hales
Starting with photographs, Teresa takes inspiration from nature: the interplay of sunlight; the formation of shadows & silhouettes, & reflections in water: from puddles to the sea. And the sky; clouds, dramatic & threatening, or light a& insubstantial, creating a unique & limitless visual theatre. Other work takes inspiration from functional, man-made objects, beauty in the mundane: padlocks, keys, tools, bikes, books & tables & chairs. Teresa is not solely attracted by the forms & textures of the objects themselves, but in the relationships between positive & negative, by their compositional qualities.
Teresa focuses on printmaking, painting and photography. She is fascinated by the many & various processes & tactile qualities involved in etching & printing, from the relative simplicity of a lino-cut or screen-print created at the kitchen table, to more sophisticated methods requiring more specialist materials & equipment.
Teresa is a prize-winning local printmaker, whose work has recently been included in the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and the Royal Society of British Artists at the Mall Galleries.
