A ‘Feminist Art’ Intervention in the North West featuring new works by regional and national artists, and international guest artist Sarah Maple.

About

The theme for the exhibition is continued gender inequality and its aim is to encourage discussion and to explore issues around the representation of women, the art world, and wider society and to bring together some of Blackpool best emerging and established female contemporary artists, to further challenge the male dominated artistic canon.

All the chosen artists have a positive feminist identity, with integrity and purpose behind creating. Eight North West based artists and two international guest artists working in a variety of mediums, respond to and explore the issue of the representation of women.  From the  inspired dynamic work of guest artist Sarah Maple to a piece of performance or video installation, influences are diverse.
