After a decade of not being seen, the painting 'The Dutch Mother' is being redisplayed at Pallant House Gallery to mark the national BBC Your Painting celebrations.

About

In a workshop based on illustration and imagination, families will be encouraged to look at and think about the story of 'The Dutch Mother' and how this painting came to be part of the Gallery's Collection. Participants will start by drawing directly from the painting, using the central figure as inspiration to create their own visual story. They will be encouraged to develop their image through their imaginative responses to ideas such as what the mother might be thinking, who could be found just around the corner and whether the painting has a hidden meaning. (5 - 11 years + parent/carer)
