London, United Kingdom
Battlefield Bodies is Food of War’s first exhibition exploring the theme of Eating Disorders.
Battlefield Bodies is Food of War’s first show addressing the theme of eating disorders. In collaboration with partners MQ Mental Health Research and Hypha Studios, Food of War aims to creatively explore the internal conflict to better understand its impact and effects.
This collective exhibition will feature a series of artworks and installations by artists Omar Castañeda, Hernan Barros, Harriet Poznansky, Clapmutt, Andreina Fuentes Angarita, Gabriella Sonabend, Henry Amaya, Saskia Craft-Stanley, Paula García, Blue Motiv Studio, Synthetic Pink, Andres Montaño, Cristina Restrepo, Mario Miše, Food of War, and Alex Simon.
All works have been created exclusively for the exhibition. The never-before-seen pieces were inspired by the concept of transformation. They showcase the artists' experiences and offer an intimate look at their relationship with eating and how it has evolved over the years. In conjunction, the pieces attempt to collage these experiences and subjectively express a theme whose intricacies often cannot be put into words or rationalised.
The conversation aims to evoke emotion and inspire people to understand eating disorders beyond the sensationalised images and superficial representations that have historically been the mainstream reference.
Battlefield Bodies is located in a formerly unused unit in the borough of Newham, kindly provided by Hypha Studios.
