Curatorial duo Scrapes (Issey Scott/Rosemary Jane Cronin) invite you to embrace contemporary performance and video at ‘Bare Cheek’, taking place on Sunday 19 November at Arebyte’s Concertina space in Canning Town, designed by Richard Wentworth, one of the UK’s most prolific sculptors.
Addressing the current state of art commissioning, ‘Bare Cheek’ looks at rebellion, resistance and other-worldliness through a unique site-specificity within Wentworth’s sculpture. Artists including Lana Locke, Lora Ghany, Ruby Wroe, Rosemary Jane Cronin, Georgia Hollands and Chrissie Stewart will explore these themes in this new and evocative space.
A supporting text by Issey Scott will highlight themes and ideas inspired by the artists’ work and the site specificity of Arebyte’s unique space, drawing upon sculpture and performance theory as well as texts and practices of resistance.
