BALTIC Then & Now explores BALTIC’s sixteen-year exhibition history and some of the most memorable moments through short film screenings, a presentation of archive objects and books to browse.
About
Since opening in 2002, the gallery has showcased 222 exhibitions by 462 artists with 60 nationalities, BALTIC Archive chronicles it all; from the history of the building and the brand, to the gallery’s ever-changing exhibitions, talks and performances.
Over twenty films from our archive are screened in the main gallery space. Each film has been specially selected by BALTIC’s Archivists to illustrate the breadth of artwork seen across the building and how the gallery spaces have been transformed by our commissions, exhibitions and the artists we work with. An accompanying collection of related books and archival objects for you to explore are located in the reading room.
