Photography by Klaus W. Eisenlohr, Berlin meets video work by Rimigijus Venckus, Vilnius, Lithuania. Baltic places are set in relation to figure and space. Both artists work with a diversity of media and are active as curators.
About
Venckus creates characters who encounter a wintry urban landscape in Lithuania. He also appears in first person as a critical personae in relation to society, to media and technology. Eisenlohr takes pictures of urban environments in the three Baltic capitals Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. His photographic triptychs comprise urban images and public sculptures. In both works the ambivalence of public figures becomes apparent. This also embraces the political and social life as part of the European Union, and the still resonant post-soviet experiences.
Both artists work with a diversity of media and are active as curators.
Klaus W. Eisenlohr works as curator with Directors Lounge Berlin and he is a lecturer at Photocentrum der Gilberto-Bosques Volkshochschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
Remigijus Venckus teaches as Associate Professor at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and publishes as media art critique.
