About
During UEFA EURO 2024, the HKW will dedicate its entire building and program to reflections on football. The sport reflects social issues such as migration, gender and racism, demonstrating both its potential for solidarity and its vulnerability to cementing social ills. A discourse program examines football as a dynamic art form that weaves stories together and as a platform for exploring belonging, identity and nuances of the human body. Concerts, DJ sets and sound interventions celebrate the Afro-diaspora as a gesture of recognition of the diverse sonic migrations through football. A film program brings actors to the center of the field who are often overlooked or deliberately ignored in both the global and local universe of football. Installations, performances, workshops and teacher training courses complement the program.
