For VOLTA Basel International Art Fair (AV17) gallery presents sculptural works of artists Rimantas Milkintas, Mindaugas Junčys and Laura Põld. The presented works respond to the cultural rituals of the past and present and have certain references to the historical contexts of the country.

About

The first time the (AV17) gallery participated in the VOLTA art fair was in 2018, in New York, in which it presented sculpture artist Nerijus Erminas' works. After receiving significant attention from the visitors and journalists, the gallery was invited to participate in the VOLTA Basel art fair by its director Kamiar Maleki. Especially for this fair in Basel, the gallery has prepared a curated booth in which it will present works of artists Rimantas Milkintas, Mindaugas Junčys and Laura Põld.

The VOLTA art fair is held annually in New York, Miami and Basel. All three fairs are focused on the presentation of international contemporary art and the rapidly growing galleries of the world. Every year over 200,000 people come to the Basel fair attracting visitors, the world’s best art critics of the 20th and 21st centuries, art enthusiasts. Switzerland’s strong economy and relatively deep collecting traditions make it one of the most art-loving countries, with a large number of both institutional and private collectors.

At the VOLTA art fair in Basel, the gallery (AV17) presents sculptural objects created from both classical and modern materials. The works are made using ceramic, granite, marble, and industrial beams and seek to combine dichotomy between archaic and modern. The displayed combination of old, natural, classical and modern respond to today’s desire to return to tradition, to something familiar and tangible, especially living in such an unpredictable and ever-changing period.
