About
The POSITIONS art fair is one of the most important art events in Germany – every year, it attracts over 60,000 visitors which include collectors, curators as well as art enthusiasts. (AV17) gallery is glad to represent Lithuanian artists.
The POSITIONS art fair 2021 visitors had an opportunity to see and purchase the latest works by the Lithuanian sculptor, creator of installations, and objects, Tauras Kensminas. The artist presents works balancing sculpture and design. T.Kensminas creates a conceptual sculpture design, questioning the established belief that the sculpture must only be“pure” and the design must be applied. His works are characterized by the creation of a dreamy atmosphere, but also are in search of personal and global consciousness. Hence, the works closely remind of the surrealist tradition manner. The works also respond to issues closely related to ecology, which also motivated the choice of materials that were no longer suitable for industry or were already used in production. Such choices were made consciously to create sustainable objects. Since 2012, Kensminas is actively engaged in exhibition activities in Lithuania and abroad. A significant selection of his works belongs to the MO Museum and Lewben Art Foundation collections as well as private Lithuanian and foreign collections.
The sculptor, object, and installation artist Rimantas Milkintas at the fair present works selected from his industrial beams sculpture series. In his works, the artist combines minimalist aesthetics and kinetic plasticity: he compares the physical properties of materials, such as flexibility, strength, softness, or fragility to the individual experience. Hence, instead of classic materials, the artist opts for veneer, metal, and especially the industrial beams which in his creations are being cut, bent, deformed in a way to reflect on the questions of identity in our times. From 2003, the artist has been actively working in the art field in Lithuania and abroad: China, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Denmark, and elsewhere. The artist also creates sculptures for public spaces in Lithuania and abroad.
