About

SPEAKING CHAIRS, TALKING SHELVES Tuesday 28 October 10.30am — 12.30pm Do you have a favourite room to be in, a special chair to sit in, cup to drink from? Working with artist Lisa Wilkens we will think about rooms and space and how we use them. Lisa will tell us about her artwork in Wysing's current exhibition and how she makes artworks. We will create our own series of drawings, a hand-made book for your own book shelves at home, and make a notice board full of ideas and designs for new artwork, furniture, furnishings and things for the spaces we live, work and play in. PAPER, BLOCK, COLOUR, MIX Wednesday 29 October 10.30am — 12.30pm Working with Wysing artist Jackie Chettur we will look at and think about the art in the farmhouse. Can you read a room; imagine a story in a space? Do walls have ears? Playing with ideas about walls, colour and paper Jackie will help us build a sculptural model house then we will colour and print the walls with our own colour schemes, mixes and words with mono print. BOARDS: NOTICES, PATTERNS, SIGNS Thursday 30 October 10.30am — 12.30pm Tour the farmhouse exhibition with artist Lisa Wilkens to explore artworks on kitchen counter tops, bathroom window sills, corridor floor boards, chimney corners and curtains. Take inspiration from words, signs and patterns all over the house on the walls, floors, doors and windows. We will work with Lisa to make our own designs, signs and stamps to hand print fabric and paper that can be made into new art pieces to be hung in your own home. Places are limited, booking essential. Cost: £8 per workshop, all three workshops £20 Suitable for all ages, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to join in the activities. Access to the farmhouse is via steps to the ground floor and a small narrow stair case to the first floor rooms. Please contact us in advance if you will need assistance. To book your place please visit our Eventbrite page.
