Contemporary Australian Drawing includes the 100 original works from the six previous exhibitions of this organically evolving show

About

Contemporary Australian Drawing includes the 100 original works from the six previous exhibitions of this organically evolving show; the installation creates lines of thought and vision, catalysts in every particular spatial situation not only laterally, but deep within each artist’s response to the phrase or idea given.

84 Australian Artists were asked for a visual response to two texts on writing/drawing, taken from two essays by Serge Tisseron and Michel Butor, that “All Writing is Drawing’, and ‘the Space of Writing, what is that?’

All artists were supplied with a standard size and weight paper. The thoughtful and enthusiastic response of all artists concerned has resulted in this extensive exploration and examination of the themes, ‘All writing is Drawing’ and ‘the Space of Writing, what is that?’ This is the seventh exhibition of Contemporary Australian Drawing. For the fourth iteration, twenty artists were invited to respond to the idea of ‘Reading the Space’, and for the fifth in the series, the facsimile exhibition, eight artists were invited to respond, in whichever way they chose, to the idea of ‘Spatial Kinetics: The body and memory’.
