Aura Rosenberg: The Bull, The Girl + The Siegessäule

Situated within a labyrinthian network of stones, Rosenberg presents two work cycles. From 2021 comes a new series of framed lenticular prints alongside miniaturised touristic Siegessäule sculptures produced in 2003. The prints depict a series of interventions into the paired monuments of American financialisation. Charging Bull (1989) by Arturo Di Modica and Kristen Visbal’s Fearless Girl (2017). The Siegessäule has never been commodified as a tourist memento. Here its compression and multiplication lends its discordant relationship to official history an intimate physical countenance. Without representation even in the museum of miniaturised monuments located at its base, the Victory Column exists like a mirage, towering on the horizon but somehow transparent. Rosenberg’s sculptures erect a field of punctures, an undeniable presence.
