About
We are delighted to share our gallery space with two new artists Jo Woffinden and Kai Larmour Jones whose work is both thought provoking and beautiful and provides an interesting and compelling contrast with our own.
Jo Woffinden is a designer-maker and sculptor specialising in ceramics and concrete and has recently relocated to Leeds following 12 years working at her studio in London. A minimalist approach combined with a rich sense of materiality can be traced to Jo’s time working in Japan, where she set up a ceramics studio and carried out research for a few years. Jo’s affinity with eastern design and thinking is subtly reflected in her work, which aims to strip back to reveal the essential nature of a thing.
Kai has worked at Castle Fine Arts Foundry in Wales where he explored bronze sculpture and was given the tools and knowledge to start casting his own work at a young age. Initially focused on learning the casting process he later developed his artistic practice to capture the beauty of simple, everyday objects in bronze. Kai is now an Architecture student at Sheffield Hallam University where he is still able to cast in bronze using the University's small foundry and hoping to explore architectural themes within his bronze work.
