Angelique E. Anderson’s AUGMENTED PATTERNS is a series of digital prints that merges art with technology.
About
Utilizing the Augmented Reality (AR) platform she creates interactive immersive experiences within each 2D print, inviting the audience to explore images that come alive through animated abstracts of geometrics, colorful shapes and textures triggered by the viewer’s mobile phone.
Angelique’s inspiration for this show is based on the theme of how truths are being augmented by the status quo. The feature work is ‘Queen Charlotte.’ “I am fascinated by how much anger, controversy and denial about black & biracial ancestors in the British royal family, in spite of such well documented recorded legacy of blacks in the royal family and their lineage. Queen Charlotte, in 18th century England, was the second black English queen. She was the grandmother of Queen Victoria and is the great-great-great-great-grandmother of the current Queen Elizabeth II. This fact ties perfectly into my theme of Augmented Reality: a process of overlaying something unreal on top of something real, to cover up, change, alter, or enhance reality.
The artist’s style is narrative, Afrofuturistic, abstract. It explores dimensional space and detailed elements within. “Creating an experience through my art is my focus, to be either meditative, narrative or provocative. When people see my work, I want them to experience joy, playfulness and to provoke compelling discourse.”
