The Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre (KCAC), in partnership with Five Hundred Dollars, is hosting Auction East an exciting charity fundraiser exhibition and silent auction from 16-21 November 2010 Private View 18th November 6-9pm at 21 Vyner Street, London E2 9DG. The event is also the launch of KCAC's Foreign Artist in Residence programme.
Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre and Five Hundred Dollars hope to raise as much money as possible at Auction East as all profits will be used to support contemporary artists in the UK and Nepal. With the current difficulties facing arts funding in the UK and Nepal, KCAC and Five Hundred Dollars both believe it is vital to provide artists with a creative platform on which to exhibit. Auction East aims to support small organizations such as Five Hundred Dollars, and most importantly bring contemporary and innovative art to new audiences.
The work on display at the exhibition has been generously donated by previous exhibitors at Five Hundred Dollars, the KCAC and many other new artists from around the UK in what will prove to be a stimulating and individual exhibition with affordable works for everyone prices start at £100.
âThe KCAC are also delighted to be launching our 2010 Foreign Artist in Residence programme at Auction East. The programme enables artists from outside Nepal to apply to rent studio space at a very reasonable price at the KCAC in Kathmandu. We will also facilitate an exhibition of their work at the end of the residency. Nepal is a fascinating country with a rich artistic heritage and this is a fantastic opportunity for any artist.
