Contemporary canvases and oils on paper by Scottish artist Lesley Birch inspired by County Mayo, Ireland.
About
After a spell at Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ballycastle, Ireland, Scottish artist Lesley Birch shows new paintings in this solo exhibition inspired by her feelings about this ancient place. View semi-abstract, atmospheric pieces on large canvases as well as smaller oils and mixed media on paper and panel. Works range from textured, misty pieces to brightly-coloured moments of hopefulness. Says the artist: "The paintings I made in Ireland are darker in mood. On my return and back in the studio, memory and imagination kicked in and recreated the place in an explosion of optimistic colour." Kunsthuis Gallery is run by Dutch artist Cecile Creemers. The gallery is a must-visit in Yorkshire, displaying vibrant, evocative and exciting new work from UK and Dutch artists. Lesley Birch exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2013 and is currently based in York, UK.
