About
Atak, alias Georg Barber, was born in 1967 in Frankfurt on the Oder in the GDR. He was twenty years old when the Berlin Wall came down. He was trained as a sign painter and graphic designer, then studied visual communication in Berlin. Coming from the underground and punk scene, Atak officiates as an artist, illustrator and poster artist. His unique and astonishing images are rich with references to pop culture, while mixing many artistic movements to create a very personal and falsely naive style. He is the author of magnificent illustrated books and splits his life between his work as a teacher at the Halle University of Art and Design and his artistic and editorial work. He will expose at the Studio a new series of paintings, still lifes of compositions from his numerous collections of books, toys, knick-knacks...
