This observational film offers an intimate portrait of a major dance rehearsal studio in South West London. Filmed over four months, this film captures day to day life at the studios; from the heart-wrenching mass auditions to Tango Tuesdays; the hourly costumes changes and the beloved Christmas Pantos.
The Dance Attic has provided sanctuary to all the great stars over the years. Since the 1980s, it has been one of the largest and most acclaimed institutions of its type across dance and musical theatre. This enduring institution is built from the generations of dreams born and nurtured there, each one leaving new marks on the tired wooden floors.
Over the years, the dancers have come and gone but the proprietors of The Dance Attic are left behind. This forbearing family share the daily duties; sweeping up glitter and re-varnishing those old floors. But they have their own dreams too. A new generation pulling at the old, who cannot let go of a bygone era. Can they escape from these walls of mirrors or must they stay forever trapped in rehearsal?
