'What can dance say, today?'

About

Three works by choreographer Joe Moran, a fresh voice in British dance, in collaboration with BAFTA award-winning sound artist Kaffe Matthews. Premiering on Tuesday 13 May, 8pm at The Place in London, part of Spring Loaded. Full-bodied dancing, stillness, virtuosity and overblown masculinity all come under inspection in this daring evening of dance. Three distinct and contrasting works, each a very different response to 'what can dance say, today?' Moran performs his compelling, stripped-back solo Decommission, a lively experiment in intimacy and risk. His trio Obverse, commissioned for The Place Prize for dance sponsored by Bloomberg, tackles formalism in choreography, performed to a striking, live sound score by Kaffe Matthews. Men and masculinity come under inspection in Arrangement, a bold, all-male ensemble completing the triple-bill. Together they make an arresting evening of dance driven by movement and flickering with ideas.
