Wschód New York is pleased to present Be good creek walker, a selection of works by New York-based artist Ash Galka, curated by Nina Bakhtadze. This exhibition marks Galka’s first solo show with the gallery.

Galka’s drawings intricately weave native flora and fauna into compelling metaphors that juxtapose the haunting natural beauty of her hometown with its economic decay. By transforming personal memories and fleeting encounters into evocative, nostalgic art, her work feels as if nature itself is narrating her life story. Creek walking, a form of exploration that honors her beginnings, plays a crucial role in her art. Despite being distant in both setting and time, Galka’s work remains deeply connected to the moment she fell in love with her mountain home.
