The Royal Opera Arcade Gallery presents a group exhibition comprising of contemporary works by emerging artists. Most of the pieces explore unconventional painting techniques and various disciplines of art, such as sculpture and installation, which contribute to a diverse and eccentric show.

About

Seven artists will be featured in the show: Alex Azouly and Jean-Eudes Maillaird as AJE Studio, Alaia de Santis, Angel de Leon, Fernando Cari, Maria Vittoria Faldini and Oliva Belinchon, under the curation of Angel de Leon.

For the majority of the artists, the use of colour is eminent and often explosive. Exploration and experimentation with colour and media demonstrate striking versatility, flair and an overall arresting compilation of work, challenging established practices and offering a fresh take on the contemporary art scene. Angel de Leon’s Mixed Emotions draws on gestural techniques inspired by the Abstract Expressionism with an urban, “street art” twist and vibrant colour. Oppositely, the paintings of Maria Vittoria Faldini are executed in soft pastel tones where the strokes become more intense, forced to stand alone, no longer partially obstructed by contrasting color.

“ASCENT” will also feature an installation by AJE Studio titled “The 22.” AJE’s fascination for the decorative arts and the organization of interior space is apparent in their divergent alternative style and uncontrollable intentions in their installations. Other artists draw on disciplines such as screen printing, photography, sculpture and ready-made.
