An exhibition centred around natural and recycled materials and naturalistic creative process.
Ecological
About
Long, long ago, we decided in this part of the world that we towered above the nature around us, our big brains able to ‘outthink’ and manipulate other life on this planet with no consequences to ourselves. The idea that we can stand separated from the natural world and 'know' it and exploit it has, in modern times, brought us to an unfortunate state of affairs.
With our exhibition, we have tried to encourage the forgetting of this imagined abstraction from the ecosystem that we have, in fact, never been separate from- something only possible if we were to live without our physical bodies! We have always been a contingent parts of nature- as leaves on a tree.
All the artworks on show have been created using natural and recycled materials or naturalistic processes, ranging from vessels sculpted by mycelial fibres to chandeliers made from recycled bottle glass to dresses woven from algae and dyed with bacteria!
We are open until Saturday August 19th and will have a range of daily ecological, artistic and musical workshops by our highly knowledgeable artists and other experts, all centred around the themes outlined above- check our posts and stories everyday for more details.
