Works on Paper
09 Sep 2019 – 15 Oct 2019
The Collective Old Oak
London, United Kingdom
ArtWest Open Studios opens its doors, 41 studios in 6 buildings in NW10, this year in conjunction with Open House London.
Our 6 buildings span 105 years of history and show a variety of ways that studios can operate. For the first time the famous Danny Lane's Glass Sculpture Studio is included.
The weekend provides the opportunity to peek inside artists’ studios and meet the maker in a relaxed way. It’s a chance for anyone interested in the creative arts — wood, glass, print-making, crafts, painting, sculpture, photography and film — to experience the 'engine room of ideas', and for connoisseurs and collectors to purchase art without commission. Entry is free and all are welcome.
There is a lot happening this year. As always there will be Postcards From ArtWest, our anonymous art exhibition. Members and others donate a postcard sized artwork and each piece is only £25. You won’t know who created yours until it is mailed to you the week after the event!
With support from the OPDC (Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation) and lottery funded through the Great Place Scheme, we also present a curated exhibition of ArtWest members’ work: ‘Works on Paper’ at the Collective, Old Oak, NW10 6FF. Have a coffee there before visiting some of the studios nearby.
We have a free ArtWest Gazette featuring artists’ interviews (some with their pets!), eye-catching photos, offers and startling revelations. This will be available throughout the local area and over the weekend in each building.
Additionally, we have produced a series of short films ‘Artists on Film' video portraits of our artists and makers. Each reveals a unique way of working, provides insight into the process and makes a portrait of the creator. These will be shown in the ACAVA and ACME buildings. Unmissable!
Entry to all the buildings is free. Come and join us!
