About

Artsadmin's Weekenders are led by international artists renowned for their approaches to performance-making, collaboration and participation. The next workshop in this popular series, open to artists from all backgrounds and levels of experience, will be led by the renowned artist Peter Liversidge. Beginning with a talk on 'dark matter', this Weekender will look at connectedness and energy and how they relate to making art. The workshop will involve a range of activities, from sharing musical influences to creating a performance together as a group. In keeping with Liversidge's practice, it will move freely between forms and encourage the creation of something out of apparently nothing. Part game show, part musical intervention, part investigation into why doors creak, this Weekender will end with a performance piece developed solely for the group. Vodka Performance will build on earlier performance works by Liversidge and will be created in response to the group, with each participant creating their own element within the piece. Biog : Every element in Liversidge's practice begins with the artist writing proposals on an old manual typewriter. These typed pages present a wide range of possibilities, from the physical to the metaphysical, with each group of proposals being written for a specific place. Over the past 15 years his proposals have included Freezing the River Mersey (Proposals for Liverpool, Tate 2009); Midsummer Snowstorm 21st June (New York 2008 & Jupiter Artland 2009); Setting Free a Pack of Wolves in Edinburgh (2008 Festival Proposals) or the more achievable I propose to smile (Ingleby Proposals 2010) Video backdrop for Low (Royal Festival Hall 2012).
