Students from the ‘Working in Community Arts’ course at Mary Ward Centre will guide you through some history, some ideas and some art techniques.
All workshops are free and materials are provided. Each lasts for around 45 minutes. Pick the one you are most interested in or stay for them all!

Zoe Clifford – Drawn to Jazz
Find out the meaning of ‘Chiaroscuro’ while you listen to Jazz and create the atmosphere of a Soho jazz club using chalks on black paper.
12.30 pm
John Mc Nair – Liberty Patterns
Trace and cut sections from Liberty fabric designs to invent your own original pattern, make a collage to frame and take home.
1.30 pm
Rachel Howard – Jack in a box
Children! Bring an adult with you and make your own creature to spring out of your decorated box.
2.30 pm
Krishno Briody - Draw the Drapery
Observe the way costumes were painted in 19th century theatre posters, feel silks and velvets, then make a chalk pastel drawing of folds and drapery
3.30 pm
Nana Opoku - Printing Voysey
Explore the beautiful wallpaper designs of Charles Voysey, especially his animal prints - make your own printing block and create a card
