Join Lachlan Monaghan as he talks about his career as a dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet and how his photographic practice has developed while touring with the company.
As a dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Lachlan Monaghan is interested in positions that are habitual parts of a performer's backstage routine. His aim as a photographer is to capture the beautiful moments in life that cannot be recreated.
This exhibition is the result of Lachlan winning the People's Choice award in the RBSA Photographic Prize 2019. The series of images showcases the unique and sometimes unusual things dancers do in the final moments before a show.
