We are pleased to invite you to our first meeting of the year. We are visiting artist Epoh Beech at her studio to see her hand drawn animation in process and get to know more about her practice.
About
Epoh works in painting, drawing and hand drawn animation. She studied as a fine artist in Florence, at Cheltenham Art School and Chelsea College of Art. She has an MA in Art Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire.
Epoh Beech's current project is "The Masque of Blackness”, a hand drawn animation and large scale charcoal drawings. It is re imagining of “The Masque of Blackness” by Ben Johnson (1605) and “Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad (1899) Both works are narrated from the Thames about West African rivers.
The work is connected to the landscape, literature and music. She will show her work in progress and working process in her studio. She will give an illustrated talk about her project, and mention the artists and ideas that have influenced her practice.
The “Masque of Blackness” is due to be exhibited in London in March 2017.
