About
All kinds of creative work are welcome. This is a hybrid workshop, meaning you can join in person in the space at Turf, or online via Google Meet.
August’s feedback session will be led by Corinne. Corinne is exhibiting at Turf as part of our latest Fungus Press commission ‘Commonality’.
There are five slots available for showing work, but all are welcome to join in the discussion! Please arrive promptly to ensure your place. Email us your images and any additional requirements at info@turf-projects.com if you’d like us to get images up full scale on our projector, and let us know if you’ll be joining in person or remotely.
ABOUT CORINNE:
I’m a disabled self-portrait artist and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. My photographic depictions are created within the same 2 by 1.5-meter space, my bed. This year marks my fifth year of spending almost every day confined here. My work is a form of therapy to ease my ongoing struggles with severe mental illness. From bed, I’ve undertaken remote residences with The New Art Gallery Walsall, QUAD Derby, Talking Birds Coventry, and Level Centre Derbyshire. I’m a member of The New Art Gallery Walsall’s ‘Collections Community Panel’ who co-produced the exhibition ‘Here & Queer’. Currently I’m producing new work in response to the gallery’s ‘Garman Ryan’ collection exploring “Period poverty”.
ABOUT TURF:
Founded in 2013 by Croydon locals, Turf is Croydon’s homegrown artist space and the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in the borough. Based in Croydon’s Whitgift Shopping Centre, we put on free exhibitions 7 workshops, provide affordable artist studios, run a free creative project space for locals & host a number of other local creative organisations and collectives. A registered charity, Turf aims to provide paid opportunities for artists and creatives who might otherwise be undersupported.
