La Belle et la Bête, released in 1946, is a landmark feat of cinematic fantasy directed by master filmmaker Jean Cocteau.
The film stars Josette Day and Jean Marais and is the first film adaption of the classic fairytale Beauty And The Beast. Henri Alekan’s subtle black and white cinematography combines with Christian Berard’s masterly costumes and set designs to create a magical piece of cinema which conjures spectacular visions of enchantment, desire and death.
This film has been selected by artist Phillippa Clayden, who will give a short introduction.
CAST Café will serve food from 7pm, something hot and something sweet for £6.
