About
We can trace Moore’s interest in the relationship between human, natural forms and the environment in the work of a number of contemporary artists working today.
Join us for a series of three talks by leading contemporary artists, who will each reflect on our 2024 theme Inspiration, Sculpture and Our Natural World. In this talk. multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood will explore how Moore’s daily habit of drawing and the links between his drawings and sculpture are reflected in his own practice.
Moore was a talented and prolific draughtsman, drawing daily and producing thousands of works on paper and unique sketchbooks. The links between these drawings, often fluid shapes in pencil and pen, and Moore’s sculptural forms piqued Dawood’s curiosity. He spent some time in the Henry Moore Archive, researching Moore’s works on paper and exploring how they resonates with his own artistic practice. In response, Dawood has made a series of experimental drawings as the starting point for this talk, when he will look deeper into transformation and the post-human in Moore’s process of making.
