Join artist Mahmoud Khaled and writer Omar Kholeif as they discuss Khaled’s new commission and solo exhibition Fantasies on a Found Phone, Dedicated to the Man Who Lost it.

About

The conversation will shed light on Mahmoud’s practice and his interest in repositioning the museological notions of a house museum in a contemporary queer lens. Speaking through the installation at The Mosaic Rooms, the conversation will delve deeper into the artists’ exploration of desire and anxiety, dream and reality.

About the speakers:

Mahmoud Khaled was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and currently works in Berlin. His practice is both process oriented and multidisciplinary, can be regarded as formal and philosophical ruminations on art as a form of political activism, and a space for critical reflection. He has presented in international solo shows and group shows such as Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn (2019), Witte de With, Rotterdam (2018), Istanbul Biennale (2017), Sharjah Bienniale (2017), Whitechapel Gallery, London (2016).

Dr Omar Kholeif is an author, curator, broadcaster, and cultural historian, who currently serves as the Director of Collections and Senior Curator at Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE. They are a co-founder of artPost2, a collective platform for art and social justice. Their forthcoming book, Internet_Art: From the Birth of the Web to the Rise of NFTs is published by Phaidon in early 2023.
