On the occasion of our current exhibition – "to the other side" – by Jonas Hohnke (Wuppertal/GER), presented by DAS ESSZIMMER, we have an Artist Talk on September 02/2021, 19h.
About
Jonas Hohnke (Wuppertal/GER) concentrates in his work of the everyday and the supposedly inconspicious. He also likes to be seduced by architectural conditions, their banality and even their invisibility. In the resulting works, both the work and its surroundings sometimes merge together, letting the unrecognisibility and visibility only gradually appear in the course of perception.
In this solo show "to the other side", Jonas Hohnke poetically connects the exhibition venue in Bonn with a location in Castlemaine/Victoria/AUS. Both places are marked by a cloud flag. The connection is created virtually, on the surface of a monitor, where both flags can be seen, as well as in our imagination.
Jonas Hohnke is going to have a talk with former art academy friend Till-Martin Koester (Wuppertal/GER).
