About

Exhibiting artist Aron Demetz will be joined by: Alexander Kader Senior Director and Head of the European Sculpture and Fine Art Dept. at Sotheby's Simon Stock Senior Director of the Impressionist and Modern Art Dept. at Sotheby's and Organiser of the Beyond Limits Sculpture exhibition at Chatsworth House. Melissa Hamnett (Moderator) Sculpture Curator, Sculpture, Metalwork, Ceramics & Glass Dept, Victoria & Albert Museum. The discussion will be looking at historical influences in modern and contemporary sculpture from techniques employed to the ongoing references to human forms: how does this link translate to popularity and acceptance by a wider audience and is there a growing necessity of finding roots in the Renaissance developments. Alexander Kader and Simon Stock will guide us through several key influences that one can come across in present day sculpture whilst Aron Demetz will give an insight into introducing contemporary techniques into the production of sculpture, visible in his latest body of work. Melissa Hammlet will join the discussion from the curatorial perspective within an institutional realm, touching on the changes in V&A's sculpture program over the past years.
