An open evening where we talk about our artistic practices from initial inspiration through to the finished piece.
About
As a break from our usual guest artist slots we will be holding an open evening talking about our artistic practices from initial inspiration through to the finished piece. With the use of videos, photographs, clay models and an array of tools we will give you an in-depth view of both the creative and making processes end to end.
Mandy and Penny will talk about ceramics and firing clay including Raku the ancient Japanese firing process adapted by modern day ceramicists. Steve and David will cover carving in wood and stone and describe the different types of material and which tools to use for which and how and where their ideas originate and develop. Pete will be showing a selection of the materials and tools which aid his sculpture process and will share how to capture the human image and it’s spectrum of emotions in clay.
We do hope you can join us over a glass of wine in the gallery for what will be an enjoyable and interesting evening giving you a richer understanding of the pieces we make and how we do it.
Regards and thanks
Pete, Mandy, Penny, David, Steve and Johnny
