Fiona Curran discusses her art practice and new solo exhibition 'Static' with artist filmmaker and University of Hertfordshire academic Sam Jury. Hear from the artist as she shares the inspiration behind her work, exploring the impact of screen-based technology on our experience of the world.
In this informal event, Fiona Curran talks about her approach to her practice and inspiration behind the works that are being exhibited for the first time. 'Static' includes site-specific works, painted directly onto the walls of the Gallery. At the core of the exhibition is the piece A visible that never stops vanishing (2022), which consists of 52 works created over 52 weeks.

About Fiona Curran
Fiona Curran works with painting, textiles and installation exploring the poetics of landscape space and the impacts of screen technologies on our sensory engagement with the world.
Curran read Philosophy at The University of Manchester before studying at Manchester School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art, she teaches at the Royal College of Art in London.
About Sam Jury
Sam Jury is an artist filmmaker and academic at School of Creative Arts, University of Hertfordshire where she co-leads the Art-Sci Lab. Her practice explores the psychological impact of film-based imagery and how its ubiquity shapes our understanding of society and self.

Parking is FREE for up to two hours with a £2 fee thereafter and FREE after 7pm on weekdays.
Accessible parking and toilets are available, and the entrance to the Art + Design Gallery is at ground level.
