About
Los Angeles -- The act of self-portraiture is a layered exploration of the external and internal that reveals a psychological interpretation of the complexity of being human. “Artist as Subject” opening at MOAH on May 7th, expands upon the traditional self-portrait by exposing the artist’s inner state, body, history or minutiae of daily life. The work in which the artist and the subject matter are one, emphasizing the essential role of the artist in portraying the themes, ideas and unique abilities expressed in their work.
