Entrepreneur, art collector and philanthropist Simon Franks will discuss his charitable and art collecting endeavours in Asia as part of our ongoing ARTiculations series.
About
As one of the UK's leading entrepreneurs, he is the founder of a number of successful businesses including LoveFilm and Redbus Film Distribution. Franks established art collection the Franks-Suss Collection in 2001, going on to found the UK-based charity Franks Family Foundation (FFF) in 2006. His talk will focus on his Asian odyssey in which he discovered emerging artists from countries undergoing significant social, economic, or political change as well as his philanthropic endeavours which range from scholarship programmes, travelling medical and outreach projects and primary care principally across Southeast Asia. This talk will interest those who thinking of setting up their own international art collection and those who want to find out more about emerging artists in Asia, as well as those interested in philanthropic work in Asia.
