Groundbreaking pop up from Cakeland creator Scott Hove, artist Henry Lewis and experience creator Vanessa Burgundy brings a new flavor to Hollywood night life

About

The Burgundy Room Gallery is proud to present Artcrimes —an evolution of the art pop-up by Cakeland creator Scott Hove, world-renowned tattooist Henry Lewis, and Burgundy Room founder Vanessa Burgundy. Bringing together the best of decadent LA nightlife and subversive art, this is a new kind of experience, offering late-night hours and an oeuvre much different than the usual “selfie museums.” Artcrimes will feature new immersive installations and sculptures for sale by Hove, large-scale murals, paintings and graphic work by Lewis, with cutting-edge, thought-provoking and quite possibly terrifying performance art and specialty acts curated by Burgundy in the space throughout the month. Located on Cahuenga right off Hollywood Blvd, and next to the landmark Burgundy Room, Artcrimes will become an integral part of the Hollywood night-life, bringing immersive art to the bar scene and drawing passersby into a whole new world. And of course there will be plenty of decadent photo opps.

The opening reception will be held from 8pm - Midnight on September 26, and will feature performances by Kristina Nekyia, Brynn Route, Coco Ono, Gregory Barnett, and Katrina Kemp, kicking off a month of special programming. Artcrimes will be open Thursday thru Sunday until October 26, with $15 per person timed-entry tickets reserved at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/artcrimes-tickets-70529620995.

The first in a series of pop-ups, Artcrimes takes aim at the decay of our society in its servitude to commerce, particularly in this current political paradigm where personality and privilege have replaced the rule of law. “In the absence of rules and restraint, culture devolves into a viewing party of celebrities and politicians,” says Hove in his artist statement. “Policy is replaced by outrage porn, and power is based on self-serving gossip. The art and performances in this show do not take a moral position about our current reality. It can be viewed as a guilt-free amoral indulgence, or a scalding criticism of a world where morality has become an impediment to power.”
