Join Debbie Meniru, Curatorial Assistant on 'In the Black Fantastic', for a talk that will delve into the historical and political themes of the exhibition, exploring the bold, beautiful and often troubling works on display, and giving insights into the curatorial process behind the show.
About
'In the Black Fantastic' is a critically acclaimed exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, curated by Ekow Eshun and featuring eleven contemporary artists from the African diaspora. The artists reimagine and recontextualise myths, science fiction, spiritual traditions and Afrofuturism. Fantasy becomes a zone of creative and cultural liberation, and a means of addressing racism and social injustice.
The exhibition was at the Hayward Gallery until 18 September and will now travel to Kunsthal Rotterdam.
