Entering the fascinating world of artists’ books.

ART TALK: Artists’ Books Special (Online)
Thursday, June 24th, 8:00 - 9:30 PM (CEST)

Tearing, printing, burning, cutting, and gathering are all methods of production for artists’ books. These fascinating artworks can vary incredibly, from bound books to scrolls, fold-outs, concertinas or loose items contained in a box. The artist’s book breaks down the barrier between the object and the viewer, in most cases we are forbidden to touch the artworks, but an artist’s book invites us to hold it, to leaf through it, to discover it by using it. As we turn the pages, we often gain a greater understanding.

We are delighted to be joined by Frau Kim, founder of In a city of 300+ art spaces dedicates itself to the artist’s book and considers them art objects that can be curated and presented in exhibition formats, providing an immersive experience between people, objects and spaces. Each exhibition or event focuses on a single book, along with contents and related materials.

Also, we get to hear from an artist working with this medium: Mareike Jacobi. The “Pattern Book” (pictured above) is a central work in Mareike Jacobi’s art practice. The artist arranges variations of geometric patterns created from an aleatoric principle of form-finding developed by the artist herself. Jacobi’s exhibition “The Unexpected Can Occur as Long as It Follows the Logic of Things” is at einBuch.Haus from 10 June to 3 July.

We have enabled different pricing options to make our events available to a wide audience! Everyone deserves access to high-quality art content. That being said, a lot of work goes into organizing our events: we strive to bring you knowledgeable speakers, thoroughly-researched information, and most importantly, a memorable experience.

SOLIDARITY: "The price for small budgets": €5
EXPECTED: "The price that covers our costs": €10
BEYOND: "The price that allows us to plan for the future": €15

All proceeds will go back into supporting the artists and creating more unforgettable events and experiences.
