Join us Sunday, August 7 at the Fine Arts Building from 2 to 4 p.m. for the closing reception featuring neon art by Michael Flechtner and Linda Sue Price. They will be joined by the jazz combo of Granville “Danny” Young and Koji Ono. Catering by 10e--a Lebanese and Armenian restaurant.
About
The sculpture of Michael Flechtner and Linda Sue Price demonstrates the use of neon tubes as an expressive artistic medium, and their different approaches to neon show two compelling and original viewpoints. Using familiar imagery, symbols and words, Michael Flechtner creates art that serves as a framework for the viewer to see a new way to codify the world around us. Linda Sue Price uses abstract shapes, texture, specialty transformers and animation to create work that is joyful, playful and vibrant. The Fine Arts Building is “the perfect space for showing neon art...in downtown LA, where the elaborate glass enclosed nooks make beautiful alcoves for displaying the glowing works, and the Renaissance architecture a terrific contrast for this modern art form.”--Genie Davis
