About
In the last twenty years, contemporary art has enjoyed a huge spike in public interest. In part thanks to the existence of works of art that operate on a gut leve, deploying aggressive tactics and using materials designed to startle or even shock. Who gets to call these things art? How do they respond to other art of the past? And how has the public image of the artist changed in recent times - and for the better or worse?
This lecture is designed to appeal to both curious beginners and more knowledgeable art-lovers. London Art Studies' events are 'spas for the mind' - a wonderful way to switch off, learn and have fun.
