About
Susan Philipsz’s early sound installation “Wild is the Wind” (2002) is part of the exhibition Opera Opera and can be heard in public space at the PalaisPopulaire/corner of Unter den Linden. In an a capella version of her own voice, the artist references Nina Simone’s and David Bowie’s well-known song. Students of the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music interpret one of her later sound installations, for which Philipsz was greatly inspired by the technique and compositions of the composer Eisler. Afterward, Eleonora Farina, curator of the MAXXI exhibition, will discuss her intentions and artistic practice with the artist and the musician*. The round will be open to questions from the audience.
The event is being held in cooperation with the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music.
