About

This autumn, Bankside Gallery and Eton College are bringing together a selection of works from Eton’s artists in residence in the exciting Art Inspires Art exhibition. The works cover a variety of media ranging from painting, digital art, and sculpture to relief, silkscreen, and intaglio printmaking. Both figurative and abstract work, as well as conceptual art, will be represented in the exhibition which includes artists Hughie O’Donoghue RA, Anne Desmet RA, Ray Richardson, Anthony Frost, Ade Adesina RSA, Liane Laing, Guler Ates, Christopher Oldfield, Katherine Jones RE, George Butler, and Lucy Bainbridge. The exhibition runs from 22 - 28 November 2021.

Eton College has hosted artists in residence since 2013. The programme enables a practicing artist to operate and work in the studios of the College’s Drawing Schools, inspiring pupils and developing their understanding of a variety of contemporary art practices. Students can see the development of a work of art from start to finish gaining an understanding of the full creative art process, enthusing and inspiring them to undertake their own artistic experimentation and journey. It is a symbiotic relationship where all parties benefit from the collaboration. The scheme, since its inception, has been generously supported by Old Etonian, James McLaren.
