The Brick Lane Gallery is excited to present our ART IN MIND; RED HEAT exhibition. The show attempts to engage and broaden our ideas of contemporary art through these gifted local and international artists’ works focused on different themes and mediums.
Beata Biadun always aims to get textures in her artworks; she wants to bring them to life, that they really exist. That is why she uses leather, cotton and other materials as collage. It makes a painting more like a stone, like something real. she loves to place the works in the sun or by a night lamp, which then makes them mysterious. According to the artist, this gives her an incredible feeling of safety and fulfillment. In Klaus Grape’s works, nature and its illusion are portrayed as inviolate worlds with no indication of whether his images reflect the state of creation before the arrival of man, or a world after man’s departure. Despite their abstraction, the viewer is enticed into surmising and discovering concrete forms in his dreamscapes. He portrays imaginary landscapes, which awaken associations of cold or heat or imply geographic contours without any hope of actual recognition: an invitation of a journey into an unknown cosmos, non-existent in this form. His visual world has not been chosen by random but is characterized by Joseph Beuys’ philosophy - which does not want to depict but empathise.
You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of ART IN MIND at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 2nd March 2016.
