Join botanical artist Amber Halsall for an online workshop to draw, in detail, a selection of objects foraged from nature using graphite pencil.
In this workshop you will be looking closely at your found objects to accurately recreate the depth, detail and texture of the subject. You will explore how to portray subjects using a variety of mark making and blending techniques to create realistic tonal studies. Regular demonstrations will guide you through every stage of the process.

Materials
You will need the following:
- Heavy weight cartridge paper or Hot-pressed watercolour paper.
- Graphite pencils – a small range suggested – 2H, HB, B, 3B
- Plastic eraser and a putty rubber or blue/white tack
- Pencil sharpener
- A cotton bud or paper stump blender
- A selection of found objects from nature e.g. Feathers, winter berries and seed pods and leaves.
About the tutor
Amber Halsall is a contemporary botanical artist working in a variety of media. She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and Assoc Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art. Inspired by botanical subjects often with a contemporary twist, Amber is an experienced tutor and holds regular workshops both in person and online.
