For this exhibition, works from the holdings of the Kunsthalle Rostock are traveling to the Reinbeckhallen in Berlin.
About
The issues of exhibition politics, the company's own collection and, in particular, its dialogue with Berlin's art scene are examined from the point of view of both institutions.
The starting point of the exhibition are objects from the collection of the Kunsthalle Rostock: paintings, sculptures, prints and photographs, from 1908 until today. But also furnishings and the documentary presentation of realized exhibitions give an impression of the program and the atmosphere of the Kunsthalle Rostock. These loans, which can be seen in the exhibition hall of the former industrial complex of the Reinbeckhallen Foundation in Berlin-Schöneweide with some works from the host institution's collection, reveal conceptual and thematic similarities. These positions are supplemented with works by contemporary artists who have exhibited in the Kunsthalle Rostock in recent years. With Norbert Bisky, Emmanuel Bornstein, Thomas Florschuetz, Gregor Hildebrandt, Leiko Ikemura, Uwe Kowski, Clemens Krauss, Ute Mahler & Werner Mahler, Maix Mayer, Andreas Mühe, Konrad Mühe, Ramona Seyfarth, Chiharu Shiota, Sergei Tchoban and Tanja Zimmermann. Both houses are reacting to the demand of the present for a common dialogue and a moving closer together.
The exhibition is curated by Tereza de Arruda in collaboration with the Reinbeckhallen Foundation and the Rostock Art Gallery. A catalog and a detailed supporting program are planned.
