About the book:
"Throw Me Into the Sea"
A collection of words bound between a single repeated image, this book is an immersive presentation of poetic sculpture. The artist, Tony Farfalla, created the work during his time in Marseille. The limited edition book is hand-bound, with each copy being tied to a stone retrieved from the sea. The weight of the stone allows the book to hang off the end of a shelf or table, creating a new perspective concerning printed material. In this way, the artist seeks to connect the physical artifact with the poetic language and imagery printed on each page.
The weight of the stones draw relation to the weight of the words, offering a depth of relationship that sits at the most basic function of human love and loss. The work is deeply personal yet presents a shadowed expression in playful jest.
