About

2009/10 Feiweles Trust bursary holder, Emily Speed will lead workshops based on drawing and sculptural activities to create unusual self-portraits as buildings. Emily's work comprises installations, drawings, artists' books and sculptures based around the vulnerability and the temporary nature of things. She often uses architectural forms in her work as it represents, for her, man's attempt to create permanence and legacy through buildings. She is also interested in the way that architecture can act as a metaphor for our internal selves. The Feiweles Trust was established in 1990 in recognition of the contribution which Joe Feiweles made to the development of arts and education in the Wakefield district. It provides an annual bursary to an artist/s near the beginning of their career to allow them to work in short residencies in a variety of school contexts. To book please call 01924 832528 or email learning@ysp.co.uk
